[Review] - Cranberry Joy Shower Scrub And Moisture Collection

Hello everybodiiiiiiiiies! ^o^

Merry Christmas! Feliz navidad! Frohe Weihnachten! Glædelig Jul! สุขสันต์วันคริสมาสต์!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with friends and families (or perhaps you went on adventures in foreign countries like several of my friends did) :O

This year I mostly got money because I had told my family that I preferred experiences over materialistic gifts. I did get a few things however, and one of them was from my little brother Frederik (Thanks again!).
He had bought me the Cranberry Joy Shower Scrub And Moisture Collection from THE BODY SHOP.
I thought the set was super cute and I really wanted to share with you my experience of it, so here you go. My review!

Description:
Enjoy the fruity, limited-edition scent of cranberry from top to toe with this pampering box set
Cleanse your skin with the shower gel or soap. Exfoliate with the body scrub and help seal the moisture with the body butter.
Inside are four wonderful limited edition items:
  • The Cranberry Joy Shower Gel
  • The Cranberry Joy Heart Soap
  • The Cranberry Joy Body Scrub
  • The Cranberry Joy Body Butter

Cranberry Joy Shower Gel

"This gentle, soap-free shower gel has a festive cranberry fragrance. It’s a limited edition, created just for Christmas."

I followed their advice and started out with the gel. It had a very strong and fruity smell. I can't tell if it really did smell like cranberry since I've never smelled those, but it was nice indeed. They say that for a more foamy result, you can use a loofah to apply it. I didn't know this before I used it but using your hands will work just fine as well.
My skin was left clean and soft.

Cranberry Joy Heart Soap

"This limited-edition heart soap makes a great stocking filler. It has a fruity cranberry fragrance and contains ground walnut shell."

I'm not a big fan of hand soap, if I may call it that, and have never been; therefore, I can't say much about this one. Instead of using it in my shower, I used it to wash my left hand a little earlier today. It is softer than my right hand and also smoother. Once again I'm not sure about the exfoliating part, I'll leave that to the body butter.
The scent from this is not as strong as from the other items and when washed off, it leaves more of a clean scent than of cranberries (or perhaps my nose has just gone finally numb).

Cranberry Joy Body Polish
#
"This limited-edition festive body exfoliator is gentle enough to use every day. It removes dead skin cells, leaving skin feeling softer and smoother, and has a fruity cranberry fragrance. It leaves a natural Christmas glow."

Like the gel, the polish also had a very liquid consistency. It contained what looks like little seeds.
After using the gel, it said to apply the body polish. I believe a body polish is different from a body scrub because it is so gentle. It left my skin super smooth and very soft. I'm not so sure about the exfoliation part though...
The minor red grains didn't scrape like they would in a body scrub. The smell was a little more sour than the gel, which didn't impress me. I did, however, like how it didn't leave my skin greasy-like like my lemon body scrub does.

Cranberry Joy Body Butter
Klik for større billede
"Our iconic Body Butter in a limited-edition festive fragrance. It melts straight in to leave skin feeling softer and smoother."

Last step was the body butter.
Since the consistency was so thick, I had to apply a bit to cover my whole body. It probable won't last long if I have to use that much every time.
It says to seal the moisture within your skin and leave it moisturized up to 24 hours. My plan was to write this review yesterday as that was the day I used these products but here, 24 hours and 45 minutes later, my skin still feels super soft and moisturized. THAT sure was a surprise!
My skin feels soft and smooth and my mom constantly tells me how nice I smell (my pyjamas that I wore all day after showering yesterday also has a strong scent). Even though you might not smell it after half an hour, everybody else will.
It smells better on than in the little container so don't let that fool you. A big plus is also how this does NOT feel greasy and sticky on the skin after application, I guess because it really does "melt" into your skin.

~~~
Overall I really liked the set and I think it's pretty cool how it's limited to only be sold around Christmas time. I do like the scent but I think it'd be a little too strong for my every day life. Maybe others will be able to pull it off but it wouldn't fit me that well. For Christmas and big events I think it's great! It adds that one extra little thing to make your appearance complete~
If you think this sound like something you'd like to try, don't hesitate to go get it!
I also reviewed the Cranberry Joy Lip Balm if you are interested in more products from the series. You can find the post about it HERE
[Review] - Cranberry Joy Lip Balm
This review is delayed by a week or so... I was supposed to do a review on it the day after I bought it but then it hit me that I'm quite hung up by 4-5 assignments that had to be done and therefore my schedule was pushed a little > <
Anyways, today I want to do a review on my new Cranberry Joy lip balm which is part of The Body Shop Holiday 2013 collection.
I'm really happy about Body Shop because all their products seem to natural to me (and because they always give me recycled paper bags).
My friend Balslev and I went shopping one day and as we were sitting at McDonald's, she pulled out this little beauty. She let me try it and I was sold, I HAD to get one!
The balm is hard so it will take long before it is used up completely (I can't help but to worry about what happens when I've used it so much that the "dome"-shape is gone). It gives off a rather strong but nice smell that is half-fruity-half-artificial. I can't tell if it actually smells like cranberries since I've never smelled those ... sorry ㅠㅠ
This is my own actual photo of it.. the first one seem too Photoshop'd if you ask me. It measures about 3,8∙3,8∙3,8 cm (3,8 cm = 1.5 inch) and it seem like a lot of it is the actual product itself.
It comes in 3 different "flavours"; cranberry, ginger, and vanilla. Since mine is so dark, it also gives off a bit of colour. What I really like is that it is not a "thick" layer of colour, but a subtle tint that leaves the lips look natural and with a tiny hint of shimmer (My lips look HORRIFYING with red'ish lipsticks hence this is a big plus for me). I can't tell of the other two will give off colour though..
What disappointed me a little was that it did NOT moisturize my lips. During the holiday season, they tend to chap like crazy so I really need something that will keep them moisturized. Although it does add moisture it DOES prevent my lips from becoming more dry.
Pros:
  • Won't be used up quickly
  • Has a nice smell
  • Gives off a nice soft red colour
  • Stays on for quite some time even when you eat
Cons:
  • Does not moisturize
  • Mid pricey
Would I buy it again?
I have nothing against this lip balm but as long as it doesn't moisturize, I'm afraid it might not be enough for me when December comes. My friends, however, are completely in love with it and always ask if they can borrow it. I DO love how it adds colour without being too much so perhaps I'll just combine it with a normal chap stick to get the effect of moisturized AND pretty lips~
How to get over a break up
"Now I'm also a part of the Catladies' Club ♥ "
Was the message my friend sent me earlier today - It's really just another way of saying that her and her boyfriend just broke up. I wanted to help her and figured that since she wasn't the only one of my friends who had just broken up, I should put it on my blog in hopes that I could help more than one person through it.
So girls, today's post will be on...
How to get over a break up
I made a list of the best advice I can give in situations like these, but if you have any ideas different than what I put up, please let me know so we can add it :)
#1 Delete all his texts and DO NOT read through them!
I cannot stress this enough, girls. Looking through old texts will only make you miss what you two had even more and you will begin to regret the decision that has been made. Just don't. Delete them ASAP and no sneak-peeking!
#2 Get rid of memory triggers
Whether it be his sweater that you recently borrowed, a plushie he gave you on your xx months anniversary, a picture the two of you took together - GET RID OF IT! It doesn't matter how, just do it. Donate it, throw it out, rip it apart, burn it, sacrifice it to the Dark Lord. I don't care about anything but the fact that it will be gone soon. (+ in case of a bad break up, burning it can be pretty satisfying).
#3 Unfollow, unfriend, delete
Speaking of pictures. Looking at all the pictures you and him took together won't exactly heal your wounds either. Get rid of all of the pictures he and you took together. What one of my friends and her boyfriend did was to take all of their pictures and put them into a shared SkyDrive folder. Do this if deleting them is too hard but DO NOT ever go back in there to look. Never.
#4 Don't stalk him
You two are over so why would you care what he does, when he does it, and with whom he does it? Go on every single social network you have and unfollow/unfriend and delete him. In case you two figure out something MUCH later on, you can always add him back. (But not in near future!). So don't be afraid to do it. Not having his Facebook updates constantly remind you of him will make you feel much better.
#5 Stay friends? Stay apart
Even if the two of you decided to stay friends, keep your distance in the beginning. Unfriend him and keep him so until you feel ready to talk to him without emotions coming up.
#6 Let go of your anger
If you weren't the one to break it off, there's a great possibility you have been left with some pretty mixed emotions. Especially guilt, regret, and anger. If you're angry, don't let it build up, the best thing is to get rid of it now. Besides, it takes a lot of energy to be mad all the time. Scream at the wall, burn his stuff (if you haven't already done so), throw a plate, or even make a voodoo doll! Do what it takes to let out the anger, but keep it clean. Don't hurt yourself or other living organisms in the process.
#7 Arrange a girls' night
Invite a bunch of your best girl friends over (or have somebody else do it for you if you feel like it takes too much of your energy) and have a movie night! Get some movies, preferably comedies and AVOID THAT ROMANTIC BS. Get some ice cream and forget how much it fattens for just one night. E AT LIKE PIGS! another good thing to do on this night will be in step 8.
#8 Tell the story once and then forget about it
All of your friends care for you and it is inevitably that they will all ask you tons of questions. Having to repeat something that emotionally tiring can be a really tough thing to do so telling all of them at once is a much better idea. Answer all their questions and when there is nothing left to say, ask them to never talk about it again unless you yourself bring it up. (THEN have a movie night and eat like pigs!).
#9 Keep yourself busy
Especially if you were one of those girls who spent the majority of your time with him, this step will help you out. Days will quickly feel empty and you will feel "stuck". To prevent this, all you have to do is to keep yourself busy. Go out to eat with friends, take some extra shifts at work (no seriously, this is one of the best things), have sleepovers, walk to dog. Do whatever keeps you busy and your mind off him.
#10 Learn something new
This also involves teaching yourself things. Often times, it takes a lot of time and focus learning something new and this is yet a way to keep you and your mind busy. A hobby is also good. Maybe there is something you have always wanted to be able to do but never felt like you had the time to learn? You do now! Especially an instrument would be good as music has been proven to affect our moods (but stay to the happy songs).
#11 Love is in the air, better wear a mask!
Speaking of songs. STAY AWAY FROM LOVE SONGS (Do also avoid romantic movies). I know this is harder than it sounds, especially as it seems that the entire world has been hit by Amor the exact second he and you broke up. Do your best. And if the radio station decides to show off their new 'Valentine's Day is just around the corner!'-playlist, turn it off or switch the channel. Rather listen to last Wednesday's news than those diabetes-causing tunes. BONUS: If you can't sleep, listen to anything but your own thoughts. Music!
#12 Treat yourself
To get yourself back on track, do something that really makes you happy. Get a massage, watch your favorite movie, have a wellness-day, pet a baby-kitten, ride a unicorn. It's the little things in life <3 Do what it takes to make you happy because success and happiness is the best revenge! (unless you decide to sacrifice more of his belongings to the Dark Lord).
#13 The common friendsMaybe he and you have common friends. Take your time to really think this through: are they your friends because of him or are they actually your own friends? If you choose the first option, I would say that you should stay away from them too for a while. They might as well just remind you of him or once in a while talk about him and we can't have that!
#14 Accept it
Cry if you need to but don't keep doing it! Give yourself a time limit like "I can cry as much as I want the first week and after that it's a no-go". This way you prevent yourself from falling too deep into a depressed state, and you will be able to move on easier as soon as all of the feelings have flown through your tear ducts. What happened happened and you need to accept that.
#15 Live with no regrets!
You were just not meant to be, better stop it now than later. Don't keep thinking back on the ol' good times, wishing your life was like that again. It's common to romanticize the good parts of your relationship, convincing yourself that maybe the bad parts weren't that bad after all, thinking maybe it was your fault and you should just learn to live with them. Don't blame yourself. Don't trick yourself. There was a reason you ended it! Do NOT rethink your decision.
#16 Upgrade yourself!
The break marks a new era of your life. You are going to be a new person, why not consider a slight change in your appearance? Get bangs! wear pink every Wednesday! Lose weight! Gain weight! Do whatever the heck you want!
#17 Forgive and forget
People always say that. I haven't been the biggest fan of forgiving, but it does burn a lot of energy. Forgiving doesn't necessarily mean you have to treat him super nice next time you meet him, just that you won't have to hate him 24/7.
#18 Be positive!
Think of all the things you can do now. Maybe your boyfriend used to dislike you going out late at night with a big group of people. Maybe he didn't like you wearing too tight pants in front of others. Maybe he would, once in a while, throw an offensive comment at you whenever he saw that you had been talking to a guy friend of yours. Well no more of that! YOU'RE FREE!! Do what you want to do and enjoy being alone for a while!
#19 Don't look for a new guy
Don't just look for a new relationship right away, believing that it is better than being alone. Are you really that weak, girl? Can't you have fun on your own? Shame on you! A rejection would hurt MUCH more at this point. Take a break, lean back, and relax. Boys will come later, focus on yourself for now.
These were my best advice but feel free to comment if you have any other ideas on how to cope with a break up. Let's help each other!
...and remember: only time heals the wounds, but good friends are always there!
[Review] - Mizon Snail Recovery Gel
Hey there!
Today I am going to do a review on my new Snail Recovery Gel Cream from MIZON
Yesterday when I came home from school, my package had arrived and I was really really excited for this cream. After hearing a lot of good things about Jolse, I decided to order something from their ebay store and the snail gel here caught my eye.
I ordered it on Sept. 1st. The next day I got a mail that it had been shipped and yesterday it arrived. So all in all it took just 5 days before it got here. That's pretty cool!
Note that I didn't use any kind of express shipping, just the normal one. AND they shipped it for free!
Anywho, let's look at some pictures!
It came in a small brown box which was sealed very nicely with tape
A first I was confused but then I remembered... free samples! Yay!
Now that the gel cream was lying free in the box, it had been wrapped with a double layer of bubble wrap so it wouldn't burst in case the box had been treated badly by the post office
So here you have my gel cream and the three samples I got. Two BB creams and some sort of balm for my pores
On the back is all the information which, sadly, doesn't come in English so let me translate for you:
MIZON Snail Recovery Gel Cream
[Anti-wrinkle functional cosmetic]
Contains 74% snail slime filtrate
Snail slime filtrate regain strength and vitality to the skin, giving the skin a smooth texture with moist. A moisturizing and wrinkle functional snail gel cream.
[Usage]
As the last step of your daily skin care routine. Take a proper amount and evenly spread it on your entire face.
45 ml
A little safety measure to make sure that it won't spill during shipping
Actually.. this amount was too much for my hand and I ended up putting half on my cheek.
So it is a semi-transparent white gel'ish looking cream (it feels really light and not greasy or anything).
It is as if the very very bottom of it is made of water so the gel will easily slide around your hand in a clump.
I spreads out like water and gets absorbed very quickly, leaving a moisturized feeling.
The first 30 seconds the skin feels wet and after that a tiny bit sticky. But not in a bad way.
I put mine on my face overnight and after 8-9 hours of sleep, I woke up with a feeling that my face was super clean and tight (if you can say so).
My skin in my forehead has never felt as good as when I woke up this morning and as I am writing this entry (5pm), it still has that tight and young feel to it.
My skin looks a lot healthier and especially around the nose and cheeks.
Do you also want one of these?
But take your time and look around their store, they have alot of interesting make-up and skincare products.
Pros:
  • Moisturizes
  • Makes fine lines less visible
  • Has a nice smell (even though they say it is fragrance free. But the smell goes away after a few minutes)
  • Leaves skin with a refreshing feeling
  • Made my pores look less visible
  • Great under a BB Cream since it makes the skin so smooth
  • Repairs dead skin
  • No parabens
  • Cheap
  • Small amount needed at the time
Cons:
  • It says snail on the container. A bunch of people I know would never try it because they think snails are gross! (And really.. I'm not a big fan either but I know snail slime is good for the skin).
  • A little small T__T
Would I buy it again?
Probably. I really like its instant effect when it comes to making my skin smoother. If it will also make my scars prettier, I will for sure get it again! This is a miracle cream! I can see a difference over just one night and now my skin barely has any imperfections, I'm SO getting this again!!
[Review] - Bodyshop's Chocolate Heart
As promised I'm back with yet a review!
My review will be on the Chocolate Heart gift box from Bodyshop!
Have you ever walked into one of their stores and, after going through the entire collection of fruity-smelling lotions and soaps, stopped right in front of one of these and thought to yourself:
"I wonder if I should try one of these once"
I have!
To be fair, Bodyshop isn't exactly the cheapest store, but the clean look and promises about natural ingredients makes me come back almost every time I'm downtown.
I always take a look at these boxes but walk away when I see the price (poor student here hahah).
"Is it worth it? What if I don't like it? Will I have wasted half my money on stuff I will never use?"
But we all have to take chances once in a while!
Let's get to the pictures~
The package is a thin metal box and with a brown bow wrapped around it (sorry, I took that off)
It measures about 5.5*18* 20.5 cm
The heart contains 4 different items that I will all try to describe as well as possible :)
To make sure that the little containers would stay neatly in place, they put in a big piece of hard plastic
The first thing I was to show you is the smallest one: the Lip Butter (aka lip balm)
(No this is not low picture quality, that is just how the lid looks)
So the lip butter was the first thing I tried.
The smell wasn't as chocolatey as I had expected, actually it smelled more like nutella with extra extra hazelnuts!
Don't you just love the look of unused lipbalms?
It has a rather "hard" consistence and you have to warm it up a little with your finger before you can actually apply it to your lips.
You won't be able to apply much at a time so it will definitely last for long.
When applied to my lips, it left a kind of pearly shimmery effect (Nothing too bad! Usually I don't like that stuff but this looked really nice). Other than that it was completely transparent but it transformed my lips after just a few seconds of being on. My lips looked MUCH healthier.. as in.. I have never seen them look so soft before.. ever.. so that's for sure a plus!
Even though it smells like hazelnut, DO NOT EAT IT! It might smell good but the taste is a mix of perfume and caramel (weird since it's chocolate).
Also, it doesn't last THAT long on so if you use this, make sure to bring it with you if you go somewhere.
Next thing up is the Chocolate Body Scrub!
This one too has a strange design... the picture on the lid looks as if it was taken by a low quality camera.
When I first grabbed the container with it, I realized that it had leaked a little. This is completely normal as the body scrub sometimes "parts" into the harder part and the oily part.
This is what it looked like when I first opened it. I took my finger and mixed it up a little and soon it was as good as new!
It looks like porridge! hahah
So the body scrub is also really nice, however, it doesn't smell that much like chocolate. The scent isn't very "strong" if you can say so... but it has a certain "freshness" about it. For some reason it made me think of lemons. When you rub it on (I did it on my leg) it feels like a softer version of sandpaper or... imagine going to the beach and drying your body with  a towel that has just been laying in the sand.
When you have rubbed it in, your will be able to see the tiny little grains of whatever was in it.
After use, my leg felt MUCH smoother and super soft! (In the beginning it also gave me a rather oily look as if I had just applied lotion). I think this is perfect for (rather) newly shaved legs as it will give them that finish touch! (Just don't do it right after shaving, I think it'll hurt!)
+ even after you've washed it off, there will still be a slight smell of chocolate (Yes, NOW it actually smells a little bit of chocolate)
Third item is the Body Butter!
This one had a much nicer lid!
This did not smell like chocolate AT ALL! Instead it had a smell like a typical fresh soap.
As you can see, it's thicker than normal lotion.. more like butter, hence the name.
There are no clumps at all and it spreads out very very easily on the skin. Like melting butter on bread!
It made my skin look a LOT more hydrated + it made it slightly more soft :)
My skin was left healthy looking without the least feeling of being sticky or greasy.
The last item is the Chocomania Shower Cream!
I would say that this smells more of caramel than of chocolate.. like the caramel sauce you put on ice cream!
It is runny like normal body- and hand soap and has a cute pearly shimmer to it :)
Nothing much to say about this one. Even after being washed off, it will leave your skin with a very nice scent of caramel.
These were my thoughts on the Chocolate Heart gift box from Bodyshop!
I probably wouldn't buy it again but how about you? Have you ever tried it yourself?
If not, would you consider buying it? Why/why not?
Leave a comment! :)
